The thing that aggravates me the most is when a D.J. says they have to play "Y.M.C.A," "Celebration," "The Chicken Dance," "I Will Survive," and all the other cheesy music selections you usually hear at a party because they’re songs everybody likes. If you’re a D.J. and rely on these songs, you shouldn’t call yourself a D.J. The only time you play these songs is when your client specifically wants you to.
There is so much music to choose from; why play these? I have created playlists on my website from every era of music for my clients and other D.J.’s to view. If a client gives me ten of their favorite songs, I’m going to be able to choose one hundred others I’m sure they’d love and, most importantly, comply to their "Do" and "Do Not" playlists.
